Your reading, your choice

Reading and searching

The course is free to read, with no sign-in and no textbook to buy. There are no advertisements, analytics scripts or personalized recommendations.

Search runs in your browser. The site does not save the words you search for or send them to a search service.

Saving your place

Progress is not saved between pages unless you choose “Save progress on this device.” With saving enabled, your browser remembers which readings you have started or marked complete, your current section and your place in the guided course.

This progress stays in your browser; it is not uploaded to the site. Anyone who uses the same browser profile may be able to see it, including which subjects you have read. Clearing site data or closing a private browsing session can erase it.

On the Saving your progress page, you can export a backup, import a progress file or choose “Clear this device” to remove saved progress and turn saving off. Each browser, device and site address keeps its own storage, so to move your progress, export it from one and import it into the other. Accounts and cloud sync are not available.

Your display preference

The site follows your device’s light or dark setting until you choose Light or Dark from the appearance menu in the header. That preference is saved separately from reading progress. Choose System to remove it and follow your device again. If browser storage is unavailable, your choice lasts only on the current page.

You can also choose Larger text in the appearance menu. This size preference stays in your browser, separately from reading progress. Choose Default to remove it. If browser storage is unavailable, the size applies only to the current page.

Hosting and external links

Cloudflare hosts the site and delivers its pages and search files. In doing so, it receives connection information, including your IP address and the files your browser requests. Keeping progress in your browser does not make those requests anonymous. Cloudflare’s privacy policy explains how it handles this information.

Links to sources and to Ko-fi take you to other websites. Their privacy policies apply when you visit them.

Understanding the sources

Citations and qualifications appear at the end of each reading. Translations and historical interpretations can differ, and a selected passage cannot represent an entire book or tradition. The course preserves those limits: it does not fill gaps by reconstructing restricted or sacred knowledge, and it offers no collection of source texts for download.
